Although the 2009 Ocean to Ocean Race isn’t getting the press that the original 1909 race did, there’s a little more out there now that the race is underway than there was for the first NurdleNet post on the topic.

The video below is low on commentary but great for anyone trying to get inspiration for a Model-T paint job (the Canadian entry is quite jaunty and hard to miss.)

The pre-interstate route means that the local sitings and news reports are coming from the smaller agencies and not the AP (not a bad thing in my opinion.)  Here’s the latest story found online from Kansas City.

You can’t get much more nurdly than a model T, not to mention 55 of them as they commemorate the 1909 race that was part of the Alaska Yukon Pacific Exposition.  Wherever possible they’ll use the exact route and layover schedule as the original race.  So on July 12 the winner should be arriving at the University of Washington’s Drumheller Fountain. I’m not sure how much of a race it is when the destination date is known, but what the heck, it’s model T’s!  There is an official race website with pictures.

The buzz doesn’t seem to have caught on with the press however.  Aside from one contestant with a blog, who may or may not post on the race, there doesn’t seem to be anywhere yet to get roadside updates.  If you know of any, please add info!
