Most of us have been to at least one – that party that never really earns the name, where the drive in was more entertaining than the actual event.  This video might help although it could require ingredients not readily available and/or against some local code. But, sometimes drastic measures are called for to get that conversation going.

If you’re online because there’s just a little too much family and togetherness going on this Thanksgiving, then this video is probably going to hit the spot, that is if you haven’t already seen it posted in ten other places. It’s classic Muppets doing Bohemian Rhapsody although with one slight lyric change on the part of Miss Piggy “nothing really matters except moi”. There are singing chickens but no turkeys….

Not living anywhere near Britain, I was a little astounded by this news story that a talking meerkat is the new hot Christmas toy at Harrods

Meerkats being so far off the popular list that spellcheck thinks it should be Meerschaum or merchant.  And then I was struck by the striking similarity with the American insurance ads for Geico featuring a geiko (two bizarre animals with foreign accents talking up insurance) only there doesn’t appear to be Christmas rush for the lizard…

It’s surprisingly close to the AMC version – although they stuck to advertising and left out the sexual escapades. I particularly liked the use of the word ‘sycophants’ at the end, toddlers could stand to use that word more often…

The story broke a year or so ago: the motorcycle-riding, tattooed scary guys that rescue kittens and dogs or just make sure they’re treated right.  It’s amazing how owners suddenly decide to do the right thing when being talked to by this gang. Now Rescue Ink has a book for sale and their own show on the National Geographic Channel and it’s a whole lot more entertaining to watch them in action than just to read about it.  Here, the chicken almost won:

Canadians aren’t known for complaining so it’s always kind of fun for the rest of us when they do. The classic Mountie Song set to scenes from Due South is a perfect pairing – particularly when you note that Benton Fraser the ultimate Mountie from the series who does love his job does all of his Mountie’ing in the U.S.

There were no Google analytics or  blogging strategy behind the frequent references to aliens, UFOs, and sheep on Nurdle Net – although I would like to point out that it only took one post to be in the top ten sites for ‘tree octopus’, if you’re looking for a new blogging niche.  So, when you find a film short featuring a sheep, alien abduction, and an quirky super hero in strap-on roller skates, why resist?

Carrots seem to be popping up in the news everywhere lately, including a new term: carrotmob, so why not a song? Probably a good thing that it’s not in English, though…

Although the 2009 Ocean to Ocean Race isn’t getting the press that the original 1909 race did, there’s a little more out there now that the race is underway than there was for the first NurdleNet post on the topic.
