The old fashioned kind of dating when boy meets girl at the bus stop has been passe for quite awhile now.  News stories about speed dating are down, it’s also fallen into the old news category and even the dating sites have ads that feel last millennium.  So when I saw the news story about speed dating while on a roller coaster I could tell that creative minds have been at work. It kind of makes sense, how else can you find out if a guy screams like a girl within the first sixty seconds?

Niche dating sites also aren’t a new invention and generally garner a yawn – who cares about people looking for people just like them?  Only now there is a quirky list including dating sites for farmers (probably not going to meet at the local Starbucks…) and random online speed dating (?)  I think there’s another word for that one.  I think the non-conformist thing to do now is go back to the old-fashioned way – looks like that’s so unhip it could actually be fun.
