The new economy of peat bogs

To the best of my knowledge there is no such thing as a tropical peat bog.  So I suppose that if you are a community with a peat bog that is no longer considered ideal for human sacrifice or worthy competition for central heating you might try to come up with some novel way to make a tourist attraction out of it – which would not only be a challenge but also the nearest possible best excuse I can come up with for how bog snorkelling ever came into existence.

Previously I had been under the impression that snorkelling existed so you could see things under water – not something a dense and lifeless bog is likely to provide so I’m probably still missing some of the critical details. Based on the Youtube video, it may be more about the chance to wear costumes?  With table tennis making headway as an Olympic sport, this could be next…
