The Nurdle Philosophy

The nurdle philosophy

Nurdle is an odd word that does exist in some dictionaries that aren’t pertinent to this site. (For those that are insatiably curious, nurdle is a term in cricket, the squiggle of toothpaste that is squeezed from the tube, and apparently a plastic extrusion pollutant.) Nurdle as it is used on Nurdle Net is a term best described in comparisons. It is anything or anyone that is neither mainstream nor avante garde but with a certain sort of something. It is most usually a verb, but also has adjective and adverb forms. It can be eccentric but not to the point of crazy although I admit that is extremely subjective.

  • Biplanes nurdle, but Learjets do not
  • The original Volkswagon Beetle nurdled, but station wagons and minivans do not and the Beetle remake is well, clearly an imitator
  • Tug boats nurdle
  • Daschunds and Corgis nurdle
  • Little old ladies with flames painted on their walkers are nurdly
  • Most of the Muppets qualify, especially Beeker

Nurdly things are nifty, quirky, and fun, but not cute to the point of a sugar rush. They are intriguing and thought provoking without being boringly academic. Nurdle Net is a place for those that understand and/or appreciate the difference and the goal of this site is to leave people smiling with delight and mentally heading off on creative tangents.
